About Retrospektive

Retrospektive is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal dedicated to publishing original research in modern and contemporary history.

Particular attention is given to questions of borders, identities, culture, landscapes, and memory in Central, Southeastern, and Alpine Europe, with a special focus on the Yugoslav and post-Yugoslav space.

The journal publishes studies based on original historical sources and methodologically innovative approaches, while encouraging comparative, transnational, and interdisciplinary perspectives. In addition to historical scholarship, it remains open to contributions from the fields of public history, digital humanities, historical geography, heritage studies, and related disciplines.

The mission of the journal is to connect researchers from different countries and academic environments and to foster international scholarly dialogue on the processes that have shaped and continue to shape the past and present of Central, Southeastern, and Alpine Europe.
